The Story Behind “Precious Love”
Chris Birkett was performing at a Massey Hall concert with Buffy Sainte-Marie. There he met the beautiful Joan Prowse, a documentary filmmaker, who had made a documentary about Buffy. Chris was bowled over by her radiant smile. Two years later, they spent their Valentines together in Paris. Next day, Chris proposed to Joan, and they got married in March 2013.
Now 10 years after their first meeting, Chris has written this song called “Precious Love” in celebration of their relationship. Lead vocals, guitar and bass are also by Chris Birkett. The song also features Paul DeLong on drums, Bill King on keyboards and Gene Hardy on sax. Background vocals are by Taylor Abrahamse.
